How to Stay Warm - Common Sense and Natural Cures

!±8± How to Stay Warm - Common Sense and Natural Cures

Well - it is Wintertime... And the weather outside is frightful. Whether ill or well we can get chilled and this is the time of year to find a solution. We can get the Chills - a sudden attack of feeling very cold. Or we can just be too cold. Symptomatically, this can be shivering, chattering of teeth and paleness, or just curled up under a blanket with cold fingers, cold toes and a very cold nose.

The Causes

Chills are most often due to poor cold tolerance, meaning one gets cold very easily and has difficulty getting warm and staying warm. This can be a sign of decreased health due to many conditions, including thyroid dysfunction, adrenal disorder, poor digestion, and chronic respiratory disorders. Chills are also one of the most common first signs of nutrient deficiencies, especially of the B vitamins. Chills are also frequently associated with a fever, especially one caused by an infection. All of these factors and their symptoms must be considered and addressed in order to effectively create long-term relief of chill symptoms. We can learn how to be warmer.

Natural Cures

A Dramatic Exercise to Reduce or Eliminate Chronic Chills: People who are easily chilled can have their circulatory and temperature regulatory mechanisms normalized by a slow progressive exposure to cold over a period of six months. In my mind, this is best begun during the summer months so as to be acclimated by wintertime. During this process, the individual should, on a daily basis, start the day in a warm bathroom standing feet only (moving the feet up and down as if marching on the spot) in cold water for 10-20 seconds. Week by week this increases to the point where, after a month, the individual is standing up to the mid-calf for a minute or so in cold water. At this point, they should end the process by sitting in the water (up to the waist) for ten seconds. Progressively, the person should reach a point where they can, after some months, lie in the bath for several minutes each morning. By this time, the circulatory and heat control mechanisms will be trained and hardened and chills will be a thing of the past. Somehow, steelhead fishing comes to mind. This is an effective method requiring will-power - lots of will-power.

Herbs: Teas of chamomile, boneset, ginger, pennyroyal, or yarrow can all help relieve chill symptoms. Adding cayenne pepper to foods can also help, because of cayenne's ability to boost circulation.

Homeopathy: Aconite is recommended for the sudden onset of chills. Other useful homeopathic remedies are Euphrasia, Nat mur., Arsen alb., Sulfur, andPulsatilla.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can be helpful: vitamin B complex (two to three times daily with meals), vitamin C, niacin, vitamin B12, and mixed amino acids (two capsules, ten minutes before meals, three times daily). In cases of chills due to low thyroid function, thyroid glandulars are also recommended.

Alternative Professional Care

If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating and relieving the symptoms of chills: Acupuncture (which I consider a cure for most everything physical, mental or spiritual), Applied Kinesiology, DetoxificationTherapy, Environmental Medicine, Hypnotherapy, and Naturopathic Medicine.

Common Sense When Still Cold Inside your Home.

Sometimes warmth is a matter of perception. Warm colors and textures make you feel warmer so change out your decor. Try a throw so you can snuggle under it.
Cover up your bare floors with a rug.
Stews, roasts, casseroles and soups are made for the cold weather because they cook at low temperatures for a long period of time and, of course, they warm you up going down.
Wrap your hands around a warm mug of tea, cocoa or coffee.
Open curtains and blinds during the day.
Switch to flannel sheets, a down comforter, use extra blankets.
Clean the house - the activity will get your blood pumping.
It sounds silly but wearing a hat (and socks) to bed at night, even if the rest of you is clad in skimpy clothing, will keep you warm.
Use a humidifier. Humid air feels warmer. No humidifier? Open the bathroom door while you're showering.
We've heard that, since heat rises, running your ceiling fan in reverse will push the warm air back down to the ground.
Nothing warms you up like clothing straight from the dryer.
Snuggle up with your friends, or your significant other.
Try a hot water bottle or, before you get into bed, running a hot pan over your sheets. Bags of rice or dried beans, warmed in the microwave, are another option.

Bundle up to stay warm:

· Wearing several thin layers of clothes will help you stay warm in cold weather. The warmth from your body will get trapped in the air pockets between the layers. Long underwear is particularly good for helping you stay warm and dry.

· Keep a throw blanket handy to cover your feet or shoulders, or use a fleece shawl across your lap or around your shoulders to help you stay warm. Fleece blankets and throws are particularly useful, because they are incredibly warm but lightweight and less bulky than most other fabrics.

· Wearing fleece slippers around the house can help keep your feet warm. Look for non-skid bottoms because they prevent slipping and possible falls.

· Heat from external sources can be helpful. If you use a heating pad for warmth, limit the length of time it's close to the skin to avoid a burn and always turn it off if you are sleepy. Some heating pads come with safety shut-off switches, which will turn off automatically after a set period of time. There are also wraps or pads that you can heat in the microwave. They provide temporary warmth and you don't need to remember to turn them off.

Stay warm by plugging up drafty windows and doors with inexpensive insulation and draft stoppers: Stopping drafts will not only keep your energy costs lower but will also help you stay warm and healthy. Exposure to drafts can lower your resistance to all viruses and make you feel stiff, uncomfortable and run-down. So plug up those drafts, bundle up, and increase your chances of staying well.

· If you have older windows, they might not keep the heat in very well. Plastic sheeting can be affixed over the whole window to provide a layer of insulation without blocking the light. The plastic helps you stay warm by stopping drafts as well as the cold that just seeps through the window pane itself. I just read an article about using bubble wrap to cover windows - what a great idea. Affix with water on the widow - flat side to the window.

· If you can see daylight through the edges of your doors that means they leak. You can't cover doors with plastic sheeting, but a storm door will probably pay for itself within a few heating seasons. There are also inexpensive insulation kits for doors that have foam, magnets or fleece to seal the edges, and weather- stripping to put along the bottom.

· Draft stoppers for the base of doors and windows can be found in colorful and playful designs. You can also make your own. Sew a fabric tube and fill it loosely with dried beans or popcorn kernels. Want to recycle? Cut the sleeve off an old shirt or fill pantyhose you aren't using anymore.

· If you have double hung windows, check each one to ensure it is fully closed on both the top and bottom. They sometimes slide down a little bit during the warmer months and will cause a draft if not closed properly.

How to deal with drafts you can't stop:

· Try rearranging your furniture to stay warm. If you feel a breeze on you while you sit in your favorite chair, consider rearranging the room to avoid drafts in the locations where you sit regularly.

· Ceramic space heaters are very cost-effective for heating a small area and cost much less to run than trying to heat your entire home. For safety from accidents, make sure that your heater has a timer on it or remember to unplug it when you leave the room.

· Most of us use our ceiling fans only in summer, but try using the ceiling fan when the weather is cold too. Most styles have a reverse switch on them that will push down the warmer air that collects at the ceiling to help you stay warm.

Common Sense When Outside in the Cold

Before thinking about the clothes, realize that food supplies heat to the body; the clothes provide protection so that it isn't wasted. Make sure you eat a good meal before spending an extended amount of time outdoors in winter.
Several light, comfortably fitted layers are preferable to a single heavy layer. Generally an outer, mid, and under layer suffices.
Under layer. Two-ply long johns and undershirts, (cotton on the inside for comfort, wool on the outside for warmth, are warmer than thermal-knit underwear. Two pairs of socks-a thin pair of cotton socks beneath a heavier wool pair-are warmer and more comfortable than a single thick pair.
Mid layer. For warmth and ventilation, wear a tightly woven wool shirt that opens down the front and a quilted jacket over it that also opens in the front. Pants should be of tightly woven wool, cuff-less, with plenty of room in the seat and legs, and flaps over the pockets to help keep snow out. For added ventilation use suspenders rather than a belt. A woolen stocking hat or mask-like hat will greatly reduce loss of heat from the head.
Outer layer. The main job of the outermost layer is to protect against wind, rain and snow. A parka that covers the hips and has a hood with a full-length zipper is best. If you're planning on going above the timberline or along windswept ridges, you'll need a windproof face mask. Down pants, mittens and booties are fine around camp, but are too warm for the trail. Two-piece mittens-a wool liner and a nylon outer shell with a leather palm-are better than gloves.
A good pair of boots is essential. Double boots-a felt inner liner and high-top outer boot-are warm and comfortable, but very expensive. A rugged mountaineering boot has many of the benefits of the double boot at a lower cost. Foam-insulated rubber boots will keep your feet warm, but will also make them perspire.
While down provides maximum warmth at minimum weight, wool has the important advantage of retaining its warmth even when wet.

Well - that about covers it. Literally. Whether inside or outside, there are ways to stay warm and keep warm. When all else fails - exercise.

Spots Are Fine on My Dog, But Not on My Face and Hands! Natural Remedies For Treating Age Spots

!±8± Spots Are Fine on My Dog, But Not on My Face and Hands! Natural Remedies For Treating Age Spots

Having  glowing skin is everything a girl wants. I mean, who doesn't want to have a flawless and blemish free complexion? The good news is, according to research, a healthy lifestyle, together with a dose of your daily multivitamin can have positive benefits that can greatly improve your skin (and your health, of course.). However, as we grow older, we tend to develop brown patches on our skin, which, are often called "age spots" or "liver spots".

Age spots are caused by the accumulation of lipofuscin, a yellow pigment in the connective tissues of the body due to aging of the cells that produce collagen. Accumulated lipofuscin in the skin's connective tissue results to these brown patches. The lipofuscin is probably the residue or remnant of molecules from damaged cells which were degraded incompletely.

As they always say, prevention is better than cure. The best thing to do in order to prevent age spots, as well as other problems of aging, is caring for the skin so as to avoid damaging the cells too much. The good news is, you need not go to expensive spas and beauty clinics to achieve a flawless look. You just need to look in your refrigerator for the everyday stuff that we eat. Why so? Because most of what we eat, especially if you're a vegetarian, have a lot of antioxidants which helps in preventing free radicals (toxins and highly reactive molecules which destroy cellular compounds in our body) from damaging our cells.

Carotenes found in yellow vegetables have protective antioxidants while fruits and veggies have vitamins C and E which are also important in keeping our skin healthy. Wheatgerm has selenium, while blackberries, blueberries and cherries have flavonoids, both of which are crucial for skin health. Legumes, garlic, eggs and onions also have sulfur-containing amino acids which helps decrease cellular damage. Avoid eating too much grilled and fried foods; as these contain a lot of free radicals.

For those who already have age spots, there are natural remedies that can help minimize the appearance of brown spots in our skins.

Here are some of them:

o Try applying lemon cream on your face. Do not rinse the mask, instead, just wipe it off with a tissue then put some moisturizer afterwards.

o You can also apply lemon juice directly in the affected area (do not put any in your face if you have a very sensitive skin). Lemon juice acts as a bleaching agent that helps minimize these patches.

o You can try putting sour milk on your face, too, as lactic acid helps by gently peeling the skin without irritating it.

o Honey combined with a dash of wheat germ can also be applied to skin, after which should be washed off by warm water, followed by cold water to lock the moisture in.

o Olive oil can also be applied before going to bed to help lighten the spots.

These tips, however effective, should not be used with your make up on (of course!). You should also remember that not all of these will work for each person. It depends on your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, for example, you should never, (ever!) experiment without knowing the products that you're allergic to.

Sulfur Acne Treatment - What is it and How Does it Work?

!±8± Sulfur Acne Treatment - What is it and How Does it Work?

Acne is a skin condition that effects most people at one point or another. It can be caused by a number of factors, from stress to hormonal changes, and has multitudes of prescription, over the counter, home and homeopathic treatments. Acne is caused by a process where dead skin cells block the pores on your skin and all the treatments help in either stopping this from happening, or treating the presentation of the condition.

One of the oldest acne treatments uses sulfur. Sulfur is usually found near hot springs and volcanic craters, but it is also present in some foods such as meat, fish and eggs. Sulfur, when applied to the skin, causes it to dry up. It reduces the oiliness on your skin and thus stops pores from getting blocked due to too much oil production. It also prevents your dead skin cells from getting blocked in the pores.

While ancient Sulfur treatments were in the form of taking baths in the sulfuric waters at hot springs, you can now find sulfur in many modern beauty products as well. Sulfur is found in soaps, cleansers, lotions and masks. You can also get it in the form of products that need to be applied directly on the pimple or eruption to reduce its swelling.

Sulfur is usually used to treat mild forms of acne and not very severe cases. Combined with another substance like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, it is a very effective treatment for acne, blackheads and whiteheads.

Since sulfur can be quite strong, it is important that you read the instructions for the product you are using. While some can be safely left on for hours, some need to be washed off after a few minutes. Leaving a product for too long can lead to overly dry skin and cause your skin to get irritated which can make the acne problem worse.

Side effects of sulfur treatments include drying and peeling, redness and skin irritation. These are usually present when you start your treatment, but will go away over time. It is recommended that you take lower doses of the treatment when you first start and gradually build up to the full dosage. It can also cause discoloration of the skin, and in some people, an allergic reaction. If you feel that your condition has gotten worse since you start using the sulfur treatment, you should stop using it and talk to your dermatologist.

Don't use sulfur treatments on broken or irritated skin as that will make it worse. Stay away from soaps while you are using sulfur treatments since soaps dry out the skin further. Use a non-soap face wash. If you are using another treatment for acne as well, make sure you talk to your dermatologist before adding the sulfur treatment.

When taken in the correct doses, sulfur treatments can reduce your acne problem and help with reducing the presentation of blackheads and whiteheads.

Beating Boredom: A Comedy Story

!±8± Beating Boredom: A Comedy Story

I just returned from a three-day trip to a town, more accurately described as a "hole," in middle America whose name seemingly slipped right down into it. In any case, it certainly slipped my memory. A shame the town did not follow.

I will forever ask myself why I had stayed there so long, considering the fact that the tourist brochure received in the mail had featured a picture of the books lining its library shelves below the heading of "Things to do." The title of one of them, "Beating Boredom," caught my eye. The "Nightly Entertainment" listing had advised, "Open Thursday evenings" - the library, that is. The town had been closed on all others.

I had spent my first evening there (regrettably not a Thursday) checking the expiration date of my library card (from where did the idea come?) and picking the lint out of my belly button. I feared that it would only get worse.

The sheer thought of the place induced me to release a boredom fart, which at first annoyed me, but ultimately allowed me to delight in the fact that it gave me something to do. I had only wished for more. In fact, I had wished that I could have farted myself into oblivion.

When it came to gas remedies, I had tried them all: Gaseous Gurgles, Fart Frenzies, Rectal Releases, and Burp Booms.

And when it came to farts, I had made them all: the silent seep; the barely audible air puff; the ooze; the muffled melange; the silently-slinking; the constipated creep; the grim reeker; the gurgle in the girdle; the dainty dud; the "Can't you hold back, butt crack;" the stomach rumbles before the farts tumble; the "Close your mouth-there's another way out;" the wrong-end sneeze; the anus can't retainus; the wheeze; the all-morning rectal retention; the little bugger of a fart which neither comes nor goes; the "Baby, give it up, give it up;" the nose knows what your ear can't hear; the "I think I can, I think I can;" the trickle down sulfur; the stinky slinky; the reluctant rivet; the pip-squeak of a pop; the posh panache; the fog horn; the plentiful pellets; the balloon burst; the atmospheric escape; the deflating derriere; the aim-and-fire; the turbo-tuba; the honking hunk of a rump; the incredibly unforgettable; the dreaded puff-and-stuff; the oompah band; the wretchedly reeking; the return-to-sender; the flameout; the airing of my views-and pews; the ignited fuse; the indoor pollutant; the distant rumble; the thunder before the lightning; the origin of the earthquake in the office; the muscle strain preceding the fart drain; the skunk is in my rump; the bomb-bowling butt; the fart-sputtering airplane propeller; the never-ending; the buttocks rocks; the real reason the gas mask was invented; the sigh released by the non-talking hole; the reason I vibrate up and down in my chair; the reason behind the thick fog in the room; the "You could also burp, you twerp;" the syrupy seep; the all-day creep--down to the exit point; the dripping drool; the torpedoes shot by the human cannon; the submachine gun fire; the boom box; the rocket flare; the blown fuse; the rectal reaction; the back-firing car; the bombs away; the implosion or explosion; the Mount Vesuvius eruption; the atom bomb; the thunder mountain; the bubbling booms; the pop goes the anus; the gaseous gluttony; the reeking revenge; the "Something I ate last Tuesday is finally surfacing;" the rectum-running lubricating liquid; the number three, fart-and-shit, combo; the "It's runny, honey;" the "Propel me into the next room;" the "Prepare for blast off;" the "I need to get into the bathroom right this minute;" the "The fart was so huge that I thought that I was giving birth through the wrong end; the "I can evacuate an entire building with the smell alone;" the "I wouldn't want to be the chair I'm sitting in right now for all the money in the world;" the sound fades, but the smell is forever; the "I want to share last night's dinner with everyone--take a deep whiff and you can just make out the broccoli; the "With gas like this, I'm glad I sat next to my worst enemy today;" the "You'll remember this moment for a long time to come--just sniff your clothes; the "Don't light that match anywhere near me today;" the alternative energy source; the "It's gas, you ass;" the fart-code of exam answers; the undecided; the inescapable; the dual-direction; and the try-again-later. And all this was on a good day. I would not want to describe a bad one.

One of the trip's most important lessons had already been taught: gas passes time, as well as air, and usually an odor detectable up to three blocks away.

Morning arrived. Instead of bringing the usual emotions of hope and happiness, it only brought sadness and depression: the one activity even this town was not without had already passed - sleep. Now what would I do? I could always look forward to the clock reading 12 hours from now.

The thought of a pending shower put a sliver of a smile on my lips, but, then again, how long could that take? Surely there must be a Guinness Book of World Records for the longest one. I seriously contemplated breaking it.

I inquired at the hotel's front desk about daytime activities. (I was surprised it even had a front desk and dare not have asked for the Activities Director.)

The clerk advised me about the museum and its involvement with history. Finally, something to do, I thought with great relief. I had no idea that there had been a history museum there, but the clerk quickly corrected, "It's not a history museum," he had stated. "The museum is history." The thought of returning to my room and putting my pajamas back on already flashed through my mind.

"Well, what is there to do?" I inquired with determination.

But the clerk only starred at me in stark silence until he glanced down at his watch some three hours later. "Well, look at that!" he exclaimed. "It's time for lunch already."

The last time I had noticed a wave of relief on someone's face as pronounced as his had been when my coworker had released a submachine gun fire of farts after consuming a spicy Mexican medley called a "meal."

The rest of the town seemed to share the clerk's enthusiasm for lunch: the little restaurant (the only restaurant) across from the hotel was packed - translated as "something to do" - and I was wedged between a nondescript man and a weathered woman who snorted with every swallow. Since the area had been predominantly rural, I could only wonder if its people had, with time, begun to sound like their farmyard animals.

Sensing a post-meal depression with little to look forward to other than dinner, I left the restaurant and strolled down the town's streets. (There was only one, but I used the plural to dignify it a little.)

Amidst the frigid temperatures, I walked for a considerable time until the soft, purple light indicated dusk. (All right, it was a small town and the walk was hardly any round-the-world journey.)

A crowd of people in the distance indicated that some type of event was going on. Perhaps there was a winter concert or something, I enthusiastically thought, as I eagerly approached. Finally there was something to look forward to.

But, as I closed the gap, I realized that the gathering had not been for pleasant reasons, and several uniformed police officers had taken charge of the scene.

"Wow, what happened?" I inquired of the man next to me.

"Well," he hesitatingly spoke, "there was an apparent suicide attempt."

"A suicide!" I exclaimed. "Who, what, why?"

"Well," he continued, "one of the town's folk, a 14-year-old girl, tried to take her life."

"Take her life!" I retorted. "Why would someone so young, with her whole life ahead of her, try something like that?"

Thinking it over, he responded, "The reports are still inconclusive, but it's rumored that the reason was boredom."

Boredom mortem, I thought. Why was I not surprised? Could any other town stake such a claim?

"Was - was she successful," I hesitatingly queried?

"No," he responded. "She couldn't be."

Puzzled, I asked, "Why couldn't she be?"

Pointing to the distance with his finger, the leather-faced man whose straw-like nasal hairs blew in the wind beneath his cowboy hat explained, "Because the river was frozen."

Frozen, I thought. "She could've always tried another river," I suggested.

Shaking his head, he corrected, "Ain't got but one river. Town ain't got but one of everything!"

Again, I found no surprise.

"I know this girl through a mutual friend," he shared. "This is the story of her life: generally whatever she tries, she fails."

What a shame, I thought. This could have been just what she needed to renew her confidence. She probably views this as just one more of her life's failures.

"So - so where's the girl now?" I had wondered.

"Home," he retorted. "When she found out that the river was frozen and it was getting late, she knew she was in much greater danger than suicide."

"Much greater danger than suicide?" I had wondered. "Of what?"

"Because it was getting so late, you know what could've happened?"

"No, I don't," I confessed. "I'm not from around here."

"Well," he began, as if it should have been self-explanatory. "It was late and she ran the risk of missing dinner. Why," he laughed with irony, "her mother would have killed her!"

I raised an eyebrow.

And with that, it was time to begin the long, return - walk down the town's single street and visit its top tourist attraction - the library. After all, it was Thursday evening!

Up the steps I went and through the door, where, somewhat disoriented, I met the head - and only - librarian standing behind the circulation desk, a woman of about seventy with a hook-like nose on which I could have easily hung my coat.

"I would be interested in taking out one of your books," I prefaced.

"Well, do you have a library card?" she inquired.

"Why, no," I hesitatingly answered. "I'm not from this town."

"Well, then," she responded, "that wouldn't be possible. You have to have a library card to take out a book."

"No," I shook my head, "not according to your tourist brochure" which I promptly removed from my pocket and unfolded to show her the picture of the book-lined shelves printed below the "Things to Do" heading.

"Oh, that," she mulled. "That's only to entice tourists to visit the town."

"Does it work?" I wondered.

"Well, you're here," she spat. I suddenly felt anything but honored. The way she twitched and extended that nose, I swear I could have hung two coats on it.

The reason I felt disoriented was that there had indeed been shelves, but no books on them. "Where are all the books, anyway?" I inquired.

"They're all taken out," she responded.

"All taken out!" I exclaimed with disbelief. "No," I shook my head. "Look at this picture," I urged. "There must be thousands of them."

"Twelve," she retorted.

"Twelve what?" I wondered with a furrowing brow.

"Twelve books - exactly twelve in the collection."

"But the brochure..." I urged.

"That picture was taken in a studio - a set. We have exactly a dozen, if you include the two magazines and Aunt Erma's recipe stack."

The town has a studio to simulate a library of books, but no books in its library, I thought.

"Twelve titles," I repeated. "They can't cover many subjects."

"Actually, they do," she corrected.

"Well, what can the most popular one be?"

She lowered her voice to a whisper and closed the gap between us to the point where I feared that her nasal hook would get caught in my ear. She appeared poised to share nothing short of a military secret with me. "It's called 'Beating Boredom,' by Dr. Penelope Mills," she revealed. "A very recent acquisition - this decade. Someone just took it out a day or two ago - a 14-year-old girl."

I shot her a glance, which had little distance to travel, since her facial nozzle now virtually penetrated my inner ear in a new-found expression of "passion for books."

Exactly what did that title recommend, I had wondered?

"And you're telling me that you can't take books out without a library card, anyway," I pressed, diverting attention from what was now truly on my mind.

"That's right," she replied, after she had finally removed her nose, which somehow seemed a little limp with a droopy hook.

"Well, what if I had a library card?" I had wanted to know.

"We have no books to take out," she reasoned.

"Well, if this is the town's top tourist activity and you can't take out the books," I pleaded with waning patience, "then what is the top thing to do here?"

She thought it over for a few seconds and responded, "The library. Do you see this picture?" she asked as she unfolded the very brochure I had just given her. "This is a beautiful collection of books. And we're even open Thursday evenings."

This circular argument was obviously going no where and the librarian exhibited the same alter-level of reasoning which everyone else in the town seemed to have. Abruptly turning round, I headed for the door.

"Wait!" she yelled. "Don't forget your brochure. And don't forget to show it to your friends. This is a mighty fine book collection. Who wouldn't want to come to town for a collection like this?"

Descending the steps in a state of discombobulation, I could only think of one thing: was I the only sane one in this entire town? If I were, I was rapidly losing that quality.

The only things awaiting me that evening were gas and belly button lint picking, and I actually looked forward to both of them.

Morning arrived once again - and my ticket out, preceded by my check-out - of the hotel, that is. As I picked up my suitcase in the lobby, I heard a man checking in inquire, "Exactly what is there to do around here?"

Fishing through some papers on the desk, the hotel clerk produced the now-famous brochure and opened it to the picture of the book-lined shelves. "The library," he responded. "Do you see this picture? This is a beautiful collection of books. And it's even open Thursday evenings."

Shooting him a glance, I quickly exited the hotel's front door, suppressing the urge to release an overwhelming scream for fear of being restrained in a straight jacket and taken away to a town just like this. But I was already here. Releasing a fart instead, I sensed it signaled the beginning of one of those "bad days."
